The tendency to hyperdiagnosis and therefore excessive use of drugs and surgery, which is observed in the last two decades of medical practice, in the XXI century has spread very widely. Is also trying to keep up with this issue, but the actions of many specialists from medicine become pretentious and dangerous to the health of patients.

On the one hand, the need to develop new technologies and the use of various innovations in medicine cannot be challenged. It was proved by cardiac surgeons who save many of their patients from the problems previously unsolvable, and microsurgeons, and the transplant team and the oncologists, and ophthalmologists. Thanks to their actions and the modern devices, tools and diagnostic devices that they use, a huge number of patients were able to continue life, walk, see and so on. But at the same time the desire to earn at any cost is visible to the naked eye.

We have already written about the redundancy of medicines prescribed by doctors. This does not take into account the incompatibility of many of them, the duplication of drug effects, the presence of concomitant diseases of the underlying pathology. And many new drugs have not changed the therapeutic effect and even the formula, just become available with a new name and cost much more expensive.

Many doctors also do not take into account the lifestyle of the patient, his weight, and sometimes the age on which the metabolism (metabolism) depends, that is, the penetration of the drug into the organs and the excretion of decay products in metabolism. Due to the influence of these factors, the same drug with different Constitution, age and concomitant diseases gives different effects. But the doctor does not have time for this study, especially the doctors of polyclinic practice, whose actions, among other things, are limited by the norm of time that is given to the reception of one patient.

Patients think, or they are so forced to think that the more drugs are introduced into the body, the more therapeutic effects in it they (drugs) perform. And there is an opinion that the more expensive the medicine, the higher its quality! By no means…

In addition to allergic reactions caused by drugs, because of their action on the mucous membranes of organs and blood vessels, the body begins to reject these drugs life-threatening reactions. Anaphylactic shock, angioedema, ulcer bleeding occur from presbyterate drugs. As a result, patients, constantly taking drugs, there is a serious drug dependence, and this dependence is not only mental (fear), but also biochemical, similar to withdrawal syndrome in alcoholics, drug addicts and smokers. That is, it often happens that it makes no sense to take the drug, and the habit of it remains, which not only reduces the quality of life, but also causes other diseases. We have already written about this in the “Conspiracy of pharmacists”, I just want to once again warn sick people to read the annotation to medicines more carefully.

In addition, drugs that are widely used for the treatment of diseases of the musculoskeletal system (osteochondrosis with hernias and protrusions, osteoporosis, arthrosis and arthritis), for example, NSAIDs, after a certain time after the start of application, cause complications and deterioration of metabolism of this system. But the means and methods of kinesitherapy, based on the deep traditions of therapeutic gymnastics and used in the days of Hippocrates, somehow forgotten.

In the treatment of diseases of the musculoskeletal system are also used randomly and means of natural physiotherapy, which also have a long tradition in medical practice and with proper use have a high therapeutic effect, but many of them doctors simply prohibit. These natural remedies are primarily methods of balneotherapy — showers, baths, saunas, hydrotherapy, cold wraps, terrenkury. Health resort complexes are also used passively, and sometimes inadequately: saunas in sanatoriums are not enough, and they often do not have cold water baths, and training in the management of respiratory muscles in the fresh air, especially near the water, is not carried out. Therefore, physical therapy is only applied hardware.

But why is this happening? The answer is simple: all of these methods of natural therapy (kinesitherapy, balneotherapy, sauna therapy, terrenkury, cardio) require a doctor or specialist special knowledge, personal work, patience and consistency. This is exactly what is missing in the therapy of the XXI century. Currently, fitness centers, spas, Oriental massage and gymnastics have gradually pushed these therapeutic methods of medical practice, although professionals working in these “Wellness” centers, do not have the knowledge of functional anatomy and dynamic physiology and not versed in medical care that is required when practicing active Wellness sports. They also know little of and what adaptive and compensatory reactions occur in the body when engaging in the restoration of health, as the regeneration of tissues and what are the stress responses of mental activity to cause relaxation procedure.

So it turns out: on the one hand, apply cutting-edge medical technology, primarily related to surgical practice, and on the other hand, used primitive therapy prescribing drugs on the list (and today on the Internet) and hardware physiotherapy with passive behavior of the patient during the procedure. As a result, on the one hand, doctors began to save from diseases that previously could not be treated, but, on the other hand, an increasing number of urban residents who are unable to self-care.

Children also touched the problem of hyperdiagnosis and redundancy of therapeutic actions. Cases of detection of diseases of the hip joint have become more frequent. Take, for example, the so-called congenital dislocation of the hip joint. Now this diagnosis began to be put to children with quite normal hip joints without a side leg after childbirth. Doctors look at the x-ray machine of the baby under the age of 1-2 years, when due to age physiology his joint is not yet fully “ripe”, and in the picture you can see only the cartilage of the future joint, since the bone component has not yet developed. But to make such a diagnosis on the basis of a picture of an unformed, “unprepared” joint is incorrect, especially if the joint (thigh) rotates in all directions! In this case, the baby needs to conduct a myofascial diagnosis of the hip joint: if the thigh is freely withdrawn to the side during rotation (rotation) of the hip joint without an obvious pain reaction, if the child’s legs are in the correct position of one length, then there is no reason to diagnose the child “hip dislocation”.

But in the Arsenal of orthopedists myofascial diagnosis is not — they have tires, orthoses, corsets and insoles, which they recommend to young inexperienced parents under the pretext of correction. And they do not take into account the fact that the tires installed on the child’s perineum area ostensibly to fix the head of the hip joint in the center of the acetabulum, actually create immobilization of the muscles of the lower extremities. And this appointment is made by orthopedists in the age period when there is an active growth of the skeleton, in the period of the most active growth of the child — in the first year of life! And it is in the first year of life the child should stand up and start walking. At this age, the joints are still weak, so children when walking clubfoot, and parents, not realizing this, turn to the orthopedist. He “finds” the dislocation of the hip joint, puts the tires, inserts insole in Shoe, and on the back wearing a corset.

But what happens next? The child grows (or rather, his bones grow), but in the hip joints, turned off during this period of active movement, the power does not come, and they begin to collapse as soon as the child gets to his feet. Because of this, the baby begins to walk “on the bones”, and not on the muscles that did not have time to develop, since they were turned off from the mode of operation. If the muscles do not work, they atrophy — this truth, or rather axiom, is known even to adolescents. Children with a weak skeleton and weak muscles do not understand their weakness and begin to actively load their skeleton, hungry for movement, but the muscles, ligaments and tendons, weakened by long inactivity, do not keep the joints (and the person walks on the muscles and ligaments, not on the bones to which the muscles are attached), and the articular surfaces of the largest joints of the trunk begin to wear off in the literal sense of the word. As a result, there is a disease of Perthes, or aseptic necrosis of the femoral head. Then there is a need to replace it with an endoprosthesis, and before the endoprosthesis also perform an osteotomy, that is, “cut” the necrosis zone in the head and put alloplants — supposedly to restore the synovial membrane of the joint. But in fact, it is impossible to restore the synovial membrane of the joint: cartilage does not grow and does not recover, since they do not have blood vessels — it’s just an extra procedure that costs some money.

To summarize the above:

• In order to analyze and diagnose the physical health of the child, it is necessary to focus not on the opinion of parents and x-rays, but to conduct myofascial diagnosis, which will show the “weak” places in the musculoskeletal system of the child and prompt exercises for correction. This can only be done by physiotherapist.

• All artificial restraints recommended by orthopedists (tires, insoles, corsets) contribute to the development of diseases of the musculoskeletal system — in this case, pertes disease.

• In any case (and with scoliosis including) to 16-18 years old child needs only physical, not surgical correction.

To identify weak points in the musculoskeletal system of the child can only myofascial diagnosis that is conducted by a physiotherapist.
